Projects

Projects…

I always have a side project I’m working on. It could be anything from brewing a new awesome homebrew recipe to some sort of adventure. Here is a partial list of some of my online projects.

U7Radio.org
http://www.u7radio.org

This project was started as a means to automate a shoutcast net radio station. There are several different scripts and software packages out there but none of them seemed to be to robust. This site is my attempt. Unfortunately your not going to see the kick ass control panel where you schedule shows and whatnot. The site is currently operating 3 streams with the ability to relay multiple streams for increased capacity. It operates 24/7 with a different show each day of the week. The site/station is completely automated now. The automation includes automatically changing shows based on a pre-defined schedule, sending a tweet to twitter when a new show starts. I simply make adjustments to the playlists from time to time.

PRMS_sticker_smallPunk Rock Martha Stewart is a webseries that I star in as well as produce.  While the series ended production in mid 2015, there are several episodes still slated for release.

HelpWithFunds.org

HelpWithFunds is the easiest way to get funding. All you need is an email address and a Paypal account to get started. HelpWithFunds has raised 1000s of dollars for those who need a platform and the tools to have a successful fundraiser.

WE DONT TAKE ANY CUT WHATSOEVER OF THE FUNDS YOU RAISE (although Paypal has it’s fees).

After the founder of HelpWithFunds had to do a fundraiser due to an injury, he felt that the “other” sites seemed to prey on those already in need with fees upwards of 20% in some cases.

We simply offer a platform and the tools to connect directly to your PayPal account.

As we don’t take any fees from campaigns hosted at HelpWithFunds we have our own HelpWithFunds campaign to cover the costs of the server, bandwidth and person-hours involved in operating HelpWithFunds.com. We feel this is the most transparent way to operate.

Sex Hair

Sex Hair is a comedy web video series about an up and coming band, an AIR BAND that thinks they are real rock stars, but seem to be stuck in the 80s. Season 1 will follow the band as they work up to compete in the town’s battle-of-the-bands contest against rival band “The Gloryholes”. The Gloryholes are out to stop Sex Hair from succeeding however they can. The winning band receives a brand spankin new tour bus to haul around the band’s air equipment. Directed and produced by a local independent production company.  Season 1 is set to start airing as 12 episodes in late summer 2010. Trepidation

Trepidation is an open source first person shooter based on the IOQuake3 engine.  Trepidation was a project originally conceived on April 9, 2006 with the intent to build a free first person shooter with a sci-fi theme.  The idea was initially developed by members of the Star Trek Elite Force gaming community.  The project disbanded before the game was complete sometime in 2008.
The game includes:

  • 16 multiplayer levels (maps).  Many quake 3 maps have also been tested and work with the game.
  • An original soundtrack featuring 10 original tracks.
  • 6 Game Modes.
  • In game Voice Over IP Support (VOIP)
  • All New Weapons
  • Instagib Modifier Available On Most Game Modes.

auditlogoIsItAlive Website Audit
http://sitescan.n5net.com

The TNLSoft web site audit uses the Nikto scanning engine to perform comprehensive tests against web servers for multiple items, including over 6100 potentially dangerous files/CGIs, versions on over 950 servers, and version specific problems on over 260 servers.
You may scan your site once every month using the free service.

Top Servers (Now Defunct)

This project is a hobby project that takes 6 open source games (well 5 plus Elite Force) and polls the master servers for these games every 30 minutes to come up with a variety of statistics for each game such as number of global players, top servers by a variety of variables, most popular maps and modifications.  The backend was written in perl and has become a popular destination for players of these games.  I started a version 2 of this but it is on hold until I can get some more time to finish it.

More?!
Aside from what is listed here, I run a handful of other sites, write and maintain several open source game modifications for several games and have several ongoing projects in the works. My blog or my twitter feed is a good place to keep up on these things. .
